Although allotments were in existence long before, the first record of allotments held in the Town Hall are dated 1947. The post war campaign “Dig for Plenty” initiated the purchase of sites at Newland and Hailey Road by the then Witney Urban District Council. The Council operates 4 allotment sites in the town including:

  • Lakeside (74 plots)

  • Hailey Road (42 plots)

  • Newland (29 plots)

  • Park Road (5 plots)

For further information or to put your name on the waiting list, please contact Elisa Snook.
Please note that due to increasing popularity and demand there is a minimum two year wait!

The winner of our best kept allotment trophy 2007/2008 was Mr Laurence Willoughby. He has been gardening at the Lakeside site since April 1999 and has often been a contender for the trophy, now winning it on two consecutive years.
