Public Participation

The Town Council has a system which allows members of the public to participate at all meetings of the Council and its Standing Committees.

‘Public Participation’ will be placed on the agenda of each meeting immediately after matters arising from the minutes of the previous meeting.

Matters raised by members of the public (who must be Witney residents) should relate to items on the agenda for that particular meeting and each member of the public may speak for a maximum of five minutes during the period of public participation.

Members of the Council will not enter into a discussion with the resident, but will have the opportunity to ask questions, through the Chair, in order to clarify any relevant points.

Any member of the public who wishes to raise an item not included on the agenda of a meeting is requested to put their case, in writing, to the Town Clerk, and if relevant it will be placed on the agenda of the next appropriate meeting.

The yearly cycle of council meetings begins in May and ends in April/May the following year.

Minutes and agendas from the current cycle’s meetings can be accessed below as and when they become available.
Minutes are published when they have been approved by council. Confidential reports will not be available in the public domain.

Minutes from previous cycles can be accessed through the archives. Minutes from previous years are kept at the Town Hall and can be seen on request.

As of May 2011 a new committee structure has been implemented.

New committee names dates and times are given in the calendar.

NOTE: CHRISTMAS BREAK Meetings will not be called between 12 December 2011 and 9 January 2012 unless deemed necessary
