Foundations for the new memorial on The Leys recreation ground were laid today. The new installation is intended to commemorate the end of The Great War and the purchase of The Leys as a living memorial to those who gave their lives.
Witney Town Council has commissioned work by a local artist from Becky Mosaics, having successfully sought funding from WODC.
The memorial will consist of a central obelisk, some mosaic artwork, seating and a memorial garden. Work can now begin with the unveiling of the memorial set to be part of the commemorations taking place on 11th November this year.
