Planning
The Planning Committee meets fortnightly on
alternative Mondays at 6pm at the Town Hall and is a
statutory consultee to West Oxfordshire District Council’s
Lowlands Planning Sub-Committee.
All the planning applications received by
West Oxfordshire District Council regarding Witney are
dealt with by the Committee, along with all licensing
applications and planning appeals and are detailed on the
agenda which is displayed on the notice board outside the
Town Hall.
Members of the public are welcome to attend
if they have concerns regarding an application and may state
their case briefly in Committee. Any objections made by
this Committee to a planning application are taken to the
Lowlands Planning Sub-Committee and are dealt with under
their delegated power system by an individual Planning
Officer.
The quorum of the
Committee shall be 4 Members.
The Planning process
-
As
statutory consultees Witney Town Council receive all
planning applications,
relevant to Witney, from West Oxfordshire District
Council who are the Local Planning
Authority (LPA) for this area.
-
An
Agenda is sent to all Witney Town Councillors informing
them of the applications
received and the date and time of the next Planning
Committee meeting. The Agenda is also
displayed on the Council’s noticeboard to inform members
of the public who may view the
applications at the Town Hall and attend the meeting to
express their views on any
application relevant to them.
- As
the Town Council has a deadline of 21 days to forward
any comments/objections to
the LPA, in order for them to be included in the
consideration of the application, the
Planning Committee which consists of eight Councillors
meet every fortnight and discuss
every application received.
-
All comments/objections are then forwarded to the LPA
within the deadline.
