Witney Town Council is looking for:

HEALTH & SAFETY COMPLIANCE OFFICER
37 hrs per week
£33,024.00-£36,648.00 per annum [National Pay Award Pending] Plus Local Government Pension Scheme

Internally known as ‘Compliance & Environment Officer’, in this interesting and varied role, you will support the Council in ensuring that it meets its legal obligations across all departments and operations.
Responsibilities of the role:

  • Writing and updating risk assessments for a wide range of day-to-day operational risks,
  • Carry out regular audits and periodic checks,
  • Overseeing compliance of Council projects.
  • A significant part of the role will be to work with other stakeholders, community groups and event organisers reviewing event management plans for events held on Council land.
  • Climate Action is also a priority for the Council, which remains committed to the vision of carbon neutrality by 2028 at the latest. The Compliance and Environment Officer will play an important part in realising this vision.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Experience in a similar role,
  • Up to date knowledge of H&S, Fire Regulations and other compliance matters
  • Experience in reading, understanding and implementing standards and regulations.

MAINTENANCE & GROUNDS OPERATIVE

37 hrs per week
£25,119 to £26,421 per annum [National Pay Award Pending] Plus Local Government Pension Scheme

As Maintenance & Grounds Operative you will be part of a small team responsible for carrying out general ground and building maintenance across the Town Council’s estate in Witney, to ensure assets are maintained and services delivered to a high standard.

The duties will be varied, and will include (but not limited to)

  • General building, plumbing, painting, and other maintenance such as installing benches.
  • Grass cutting, hedge cutting and shrub maintenance
  • Horticulture, planting the town centre flower beds, fine turf, sports pitch maintenance and line marking

Being a team player and the ability to work with others is key, as well as good communication skills. Applicants should have previous experience in a similar role and be able to have a flexible approach.
