Grade/Salary: SCP 7 – 12 £25,584 to £27,711 per annum (pay award pending)

Are you passionate about creating memorable experiences and bringing communities together? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Venue & Events Co-ordinator to join our team and help deliver exceptional events from concept to completion.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll coordinate all aspects of event logistics, manage our prestigious venues including the historic Corn Exchange and Burwell Hall, and work with diverse stakeholders to create seamless, professional events that serve our community.
What You’ll Be Doing
Event Management:
- Coordinate and deliver a diverse programme of cultural activities, festivals, civic functions, and community events
- Plan and execute theatre productions, live music performances, cinema screenings, conferences, and meetings
- Create promotional materials, manage social media content, and maximize event attendance through effective marketing
- Support weddings, civil ceremonies, and third-party event hirers
- Provide event metrics and feedback to continuously improve our offerings
Venue Operations:
- Help make the Corn Exchange a vibrant focal point in Witney town centre
- Ensure safe daily operations across all venues, coordinating maintenance and overseeing building usage
- Provide exceptional front-of-house service, welcoming visitors and supporting hirers
- Set up specialised equipment including theatrical lighting, sound systems, and stage configurations
- Maintain venue presentation standards and conduct post-event inspections
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Experience organizing and delivering high-quality events
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional, welcoming approach
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Technical ability to operate basic AV equipment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work collaboratively
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Health and safety knowledge, particularly for venues and live events
- Basic understanding of licensing laws
- Current, clean UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in event management, marketing, creative arts, or related field
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Personal license holder (Licensing Act 2003)
- Experience with risk assessments and event planning documentation
- Sound AV knowledge and equipment operation skills
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva)
- Experience with ticketing software (Eventbrite) and social media management

Location: Works Depot – currently based at Stanley Court/West Witney
Witney Town Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Fixed Term* General Operative to join our small, dedicated team. This role is essential in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our community facilities and green spaces in Witney. Your work will directly contribute to the care and appearance of our town’s green spaces and amenity areas, enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the community.
* Although this role is initially offered as a 4-month fixed-term contract to cover the summer season, there may be an opportunity for the right candidate to secure a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Emptying of litter, recycling and dog waste bins
- Litter picking and street cleaning
- Cleaning of street furniture
- Weeding and watering of planted areas
- Routine collections and deliveries
- Play area inspections and minor maintenance
- Health & Safety inspections
- General grounds maintenance including grass cutting with various machinery
What We’re Looking For:
- A team player with strong communication skills
- A flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to work in varied conditions
- Previous experience in a similar outdoor or maintenance role is preferred but not essential
- A commitment to high standards of service and health & safety
