Witney Town Council Launches Youth Funding Grant to Support Local Young People

Witney Town Council is excited to announce the launch of a Youth Services Grant for 2025-26, with a total of £20,000 available to support local initiatives that enhance opportunities for young people of all ages and backgrounds within Witney.

The Town Council recognises the importance of offering young people access to a wide range of activities and services to support their development, help them build fulfilling lives, and provide them with safe, welcoming spaces. This grant aims to address any gaps in services, provide new ones, and encourage participation in a variety of activities.

Witney Town Council is committed to working alongside young people, their families, and community organisations to help shape a brighter future for youth in our town. This initiative also supports the desire of local young people to have more places to go and things to do—whether it is through play, creative activities, or new and engaging opportunities.

Key Highlights of the Youth Funding Grant:

  • £20,000 available for the year 2025-26.
  • Supporting projects and activities that benefit young people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Enhancing access to existing services and creating new opportunities for growth and development.

The Town Council is calling on local organisations and community groups to apply for funding that will directly benefit the young people of Witney. Together, we can ensure that our youth have the support and opportunities they need to thrive!

Cllr Dr Ruth Smith, Leader of the Town Council on the initiative,

‘We are really pleased to be able to expand our youth grants. Responding to local news by launching The Station and keeping our commitment to Home Start had redirected the original grant funds, but in the continued lack of higher Authority-run youth provision, we reached agreement as a council that this was an important area of spending. It was a factor that led to all parties agreeing the necessary increase in the precept and voting for the budget this year.’

Applications for a grant award are now open until 27th June 2025. A decision will be made on the awards in July. For more information on how to apply for the Youth Funding Grant, including the application form and criteria please visit www.witney-tc.gov.uk/services/grants/
