Witney Town Council is excited to announce the grand reopening of the newly refurbished Splash Park at The Leys, scheduled to open on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, at 2 pm. This favourite community spot is ready to welcome back families and visitors with the opportunity for endless free fun and enjoyment over the summer.
The voices of children and young people were at the heart of Witney Town Council’s Splash Park consultation and the splash pad now features a bright, colourful design with an exciting new feel. Even very small children were able to make their choices using stickers to select the features they most wanted to include in the new design. We took the consultation to Witney Carnival and our Play day at West Witney and we also gave parents and children the opportunity to take part online. From the colours and design to the features, the splash park has been tailored by families and children’s feedback.
The expanded play area around the perimeter provides a spacious setting, allowing for more families and reducing the risk of the system being blocked by bark and mud. With inclusivity in mind, the park has introduced new accessible water features including wheelchair friendly fountains and sprays and a floor button to turn on the water, ensuring everyone can join in the fun.
Beyond the visual and functional upgrades, the park’s infrastructure has been significantly improved to ensure reliability and minimal closures. Visitors will also enjoy a new tactile surface, designed for extra grip and safety as children play.
Additionally, the new splash park is more environmentally conscious, using grey water from the splash park for plant watering and irrigation in other Town Council recreational areas, reducing overall water usage and waste.

It is opening ahead of schedule on Thursday at 2 p.m. This is such a fantastic venue for the people of Witney and surrounding areas, and I am sure you will agree it is money well spent.”
