Our Schools in Bloom Wheelbarrows 2026

Witney Town Council is delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Witney in Bloom Wheelbarrow Competition.

The theme this year was “Sensory Barrows”, and once again our local schools amazed us with their creativity, imagination and hard work. Each barrow was beautifully designed to engage the senses, using thoughtful planting and a variety of natural materials to create interactive displays.

We were especially pleased that all of the entries embraced our request to avoid single-use plastics, something that is very important to us. Thank you to everyone who made such an effort to create sustainable displays.

The wheelbarrows were displayed at Witney Carnival, where visitors were invited to vote for their favourite in our popular People’s Choice award. Although every entry was a winner in our eyes, we also set our special guests the difficult task of choosing their individual favourites.

This year’s winners are:

Mayor’s Choice: The Blake’s School (Barrow No. 3)
MP’s Choice: The Batt School (Barrow No. 1), chosen by Charlie Maynard MP
People’s Choice: Windrush Primary School

Congratulations to our three winners, and a huge thank you to every school that took part. The standard was incredibly high, making it a very difficult decision for everyone involved.

The wheelbarrows will now be passed on to local care homes, where residents can continue to enjoy them throughout the summer while the schools are closed.

As far as we are concerned, every participant is a winner. Everyone who entered will receive a prize, with an extra little something for the three winning barrows in recognition of their achievement.

Thank you once again to all the pupils, teachers and volunteers whose enthusiasm, creativity and commitment made this year’s competition such a wonderful success.
