Witney Town Council is pleased to announce the formation of a strategic partnership with Witney Town Football Club (WTFC), marking a significant step forward in supporting grassroots football, community physical and mental health, and inclusive recreation across the town.

Witney Town FC, reformed in 2024, has rapidly become a cornerstone of the local sporting community. Their inaugural season saw exceptional on-pitch success and strong community engagement, positioning the club as a vibrant symbol of local pride. The club’s ambitions are matched by a commitment to inclusivity, youth engagement, and providing opportunities for all residents.

The Council recognises the challenges the club faces in meeting growing demand for high-quality facilities. Strengthened community ties through joint initiatives and outreach supports the Council’s commitment to empowering local organisations that share its vision for a healthier, more connected, and more inclusive Witney.

Paul Foster, Chair of Witney Town FC, said:

“We’re proud to announce a wonderful & new partnership between Witney Town FC and Witney Town Council. This exciting collaboration marks a big step forward as we work together & believe our partnership will bring lasting benefits for everyone in Witney. From grassroots development to wider community initiatives, we’re united in our mission to make a real difference — on and off the pitch.”

Councillor Ruth Smith, Leader of the Council, commented:

“In just one astonishingly successful year, Witney’s official adult football team has captured the local imagination. They have a heart to help existing youth teams form a pipeline to the adult game and to expand women’s football. Their work to improve mental health understanding is becoming a lifeline in the community.”
