Gold for Witney Lake & Country Park!
We are absolutely delighted to share that Witney Lake and Country Park has been awarded a Gold Award at the Thames and Chilterns In Bloom Awards 2025!
This recognition highlights just how important ongoing maintenance, careful improvements, and a strong management plan are in shaping the park into a thriving green space for both people and wildlife. From biodiversity projects and community activities to enhanced facilities and sustainable upkeep, every step has played a role in this achievement.
A busy time for our Lake which has also been awarded Local Nature Reserve status this year
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated staff and volunteers, whose hard work and commitment continue to make Witney Lake and Country Park such a special place.
We’ll keep building on this success, guided by feedback and future plans, to make sure the park remains a haven for everyone to enjoy
You can follow the journey to our award in the portfolio which we present to the judges when they visit.
You Said, We Did – Directional Signage to Witney Lake and Country Park

Whether you’re walking or cycling, our Witney Lake Visitors’ Survey and Annual Residents’ Survey revealed that many people only discover the Nature Reserve through word of mouth — and many don’t even know it exists! It would be such a shame to miss out on such a beautiful place to walk
To help, our Works and Green Spaces Teams have recently installed new directional signage to guide you on your next visit.
You’ll find an information board near the Church End of The Leys, along with three fingerposts showing the route and distance (in metres) to the lake.
