Witney Lake and Country Park & Biodiversity

EXPLORE THIS WONDERFUL GREEN SPACE and its biodiversity

A peaceful lake, a distributary of the River Windrush and wetland meadows.

Due to the nature of the lake and its unpredictable depths and instability of the banks, Swimming/paddling is not permitted anywhere in the lake.

  • Use the quarter mile markers to measure your walk or run around the lake.
  • Use the information points and rubbing boards to discover more about the nature surrounding you.
  • Take a break picnic by the lakeside. We have accessible picnic benches so that everyone can join in.
  • There are dozens of species of birds around including Snipe after which one of our meadows is named. How many can you spot?
  • If you love what you find and want to help look after it, why not offer to volunteer?
